Artist Statement
I am interested in the elements that do not seem important, those things we tent to forget because we think they do not deserve our attention on the pretext that we do not see any commercial utility. I feel human's fate is to forget that is why my work invites us all to remember. I am fascinated by the stories that hide behind the objects and by why people keep them, dear them, garden them, collect them... Still life for me is a pretext for exploring the human being and the social ties that surround it.
Photography is the best medium of expression that I have to capture this passing time that hides behind people and their objects. I often use long exposure times in the studio, I give a careful, silent look and I take the necessary time for the subjects observed to be comfortable. It is my way of transmitting my posture against the speed that rules our lives in society today. When we take the time to look, to reflect, to share, we fight against the absurd machinery of contemporary production that constantly manufactures images with an incredible rapidity, images that will fall into oblivion a few seconds later. This intimacy is worthy of being observed because it is at the same time universal: it does not belong to a single individual, much to the whole humanity. My work is therefore also linked to anthropology and history.
